Common Acoustic Defects In Sports Stadiums
- Oct 05, 2020-

1. Long reverberation time

Compared with the general theater, concert hall, conference hall and other halls, the surface area of sound absorption processing in gymnasium is relatively small, so the reverberation time is generally longer.

2. Vibrating echoes

Between a pair of parallel walls in the room, a sound is reflected back and forth between the two walls to produce repeated sounds, called vibrating echoes. This is most likely to occur in the large walls of the stadium and in the parapets and grandstands around the playing area.

3. Acoustic focus

When a sound encounters a concave wall or ceiling, it will produce sound focusing, making the sound pressure level of some points or certain areas far greater than that of others, resulting in uneven distribution of sound field and sound quality defects such as "sound dyeing" and "sound feedback howling". The curved vault and circular walls of the stadium are typical structures that tend to produce acoustic focus.
